Blogger Blues and Pillow Roundup

I really love to read blogs.....decorating and craft blogs are my favorite.  I have spent way too much time lately reading other peoples blogs than working on my own.  That is because as I am going thru my radiation treatments for cancer I just cannot find the energy or enthusiasm to post.  I know that sounds bad but right now its just easier for me to read others blogs than it is to work on my own.  I have the blogger blues and the blues in general.

I am going to try to post as often as I can providing I have the energy.  I love your comments and read them all.  I have some great ideas about posts I would like to do and I will, but not now, probably in the next few weeks when my treatment is over and my life gets back to "normal".  Thanks for still following me and thanks for understanding.

Today I am posting a pillow round up.  I love pillows.....they are such an easy way to change the look of a room.  Enjoy the photos.........these are pillows that we have in our cottage.  Until next time .........enjoy!!!!

Burlap House Number Pillow

Burlap is such an "in" fabric.  I really don't like working with it ......it is so messy but yet I do love it!!Anyway, I found a yard of this gold colored burlap at one of my local thrift stores.  It just sat in my fabric box for a while.

When putting my front porch together this spring I decided I needed some new pillows for my porch swing.  I thought of the burlap sitting in my fabric box.  So I got out my Cricut and made a stencil of my house number and stenciled it on to the piece of burlap.  I then just made a quick sham back pillow and voila.....A new pillow for my porch swing!!!!!

Easy and Cheap Outdoor Pillows!!

I love, love love pillows!!  But many of you know that already!!  So here goes one more post about pillows.

I wanted some pillows for my outdoor furniture that we have at our cottage.  I also wanted to use fabric that I already had to make them.  So.....at work we have fabric books for customers to look at when they purchase outdoor furniture.  The fabric is for the cushions for the furniture.  It comes in sample books that look like this......

I get these sample books for free after the manufacturer issues a new book.  The pieces are  small, and they are an outdoor fabric.
So what I did to make my pillows is cut out the pieces I wanted to use and then sewed them to the size I wanted and added a plain white canvas backing material.

Here is how they turned out.

I wanted a nautical look and I wanted a bright red.  A couple of other pics.

And yes they are not outside on my deck.  The cottage is still closed up for the winter but we will be opening it up this weekend!!

Ask at your local furniture store for their old fabric pattern books, in most cases they just get thrown away when new ones come out.  You can do so much with these great pieces of fabric!!

Pillows, Pillows and More Pillows!!!

One of the easiest ways to change the look of a room is to change the pillows on your sofa , a chair or your bed.  I LOVE to sew pillows and I love to use them everywhere.  And yes, my hubby tells me there are way too many pillows on our bed!!

Today I thought I would share with you photos of pillows I have made.  Some are very "cottagey"- is that a word? Others are a little more traditional.  Lets look at the cottage ones first.......

These were made with designer fabrics I picked up on sale and vintage linens that in some way were flawed- a hole, a stain, or a tear. I cut them up to use for the pillows. I can see these on a white iron bed with a vintage chenille bedspread and an old quilt!!

Now for the traditional ones........

Wouldn't these look good on a small chair in the living or family room?

Stay tuned for another post coming up next week on some more pillows and a super thrifty way to make them!!!!!!!
