In Celebration of the Royal Wedding.....Easy Project!

I have recently discovered The Graphics Fairy .  She has so many fun images and I have had a ton of fun just thinking of projects to do with her great graphics!!

I recently came across a book of old sheet music for 50 cents and a black frame that was also 50 cents.  Using the lady with the crown silhouttte from the graphics fairy I created this.........

I just printed the silhoutte directly on the sheet music and popped it in the black frame. VERY VERY easy and so cute!! You could print the silhoutte on black card stock and then glue it to the sheet music if you wanted to.

Sorry about the glare in these photos..it was a rare sunny day in Michigan.

So....in celebration of the royal wedding I give you the lady with the crown.

Pillows, Pillows and More Pillows!!!

One of the easiest ways to change the look of a room is to change the pillows on your sofa , a chair or your bed.  I LOVE to sew pillows and I love to use them everywhere.  And yes, my hubby tells me there are way too many pillows on our bed!!

Today I thought I would share with you photos of pillows I have made.  Some are very "cottagey"- is that a word? Others are a little more traditional.  Lets look at the cottage ones first.......

These were made with designer fabrics I picked up on sale and vintage linens that in some way were flawed- a hole, a stain, or a tear. I cut them up to use for the pillows. I can see these on a white iron bed with a vintage chenille bedspread and an old quilt!!

Now for the traditional ones........

Wouldn't these look good on a small chair in the living or family room?

Stay tuned for another post coming up next week on some more pillows and a super thrifty way to make them!!!!!!!

New Uses for Old Sewing Patterns

Oh my gosh my work marathon for the past week has come to an end!!  I have worked so many hours at my part time jobs this week  that I have not had time to post or time to craft or time to read all those blogs I follow!! Time to catch up!!

I am sharing a project that I completed a couple of weeks ago.  Most of you know that I am a sewer and have lots of patterns just hanging around.  I decided to put them to good use!!

First I tore the tissue pattern pieces into smaller pieces and found a styrofoam ball and some mod podge.  I then just mod podged the torn pieces on the ball. I did several layers to cover the white of the ball.   EASY!!  Voila........some unique decorative balls!!

The "Nest" Table Decor

I finally decided to change my dining room table centerpiece.  I had a really fun Pier 1 lantern on my table for most of the winter and it was OK but I decided something more "Springy" was in order.  To me nests mean spring- maybe it is because a Robin builds one on our front porch each spring- so I thought that nests would be my theme this year for the table.  So here is what I came up with.

The bunny I added for Easter.  I got him several years ago from work for FREE because he was damaged in shipping.( He has a small hole in his back)  He is so vintage looking and cute.
A nest with decoupaged eggs sits in front of him.  I just used mod podge to glue some pretty napkins to cheap plastic eggs.
Another fun nest that sits next to the long basket!!
A pot of silk tulips with a little nest inside sit at the end of the long basket opposite the rabbit!!

A small chalkware bunny , a silver dish with eggs, and yes another nest sit on top of my sideboard in the dining room!!

Here is another view of my sideboard!!

Spring has arrived in my dining room now we just need to work on the weather here in Michigan!!

Spring Door Decor

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments on my guest room post!! It made my day to read all of your nice thoughts!!

Today I thought I would do a quick post on a couple of spring decor door ideas. The first one is a monogram that I usually put up mid winter after I get tired of the snowman- tired of winter too, so I need to change it up a bit.

It is just a Goodwill frame that I painted off white and added the cute fabric flowers and then hanging inside of it is the chipboard letter "K" from Hobby Lobby.

The second one is a cute small wreath covered in burlap and I also added the fabric flowers.  It hangs inside of the frame.

Easy, fun and colorful door decor!!!!!!!
